Hey all,
It's been a LONG time since I did a Jacob's Rant (here on DeviantArt anyway), and since this is a bit more of a cathartic thing than anything else, it's a good place to start.
Well, many of those who watch me have notice that I decided to cancel the Monsturra Redesign Challenge, and there are many reasons why I did it, but the biggest one is that I have decided that instead of letting other take the reigns of my main kaiju that I should just work on him myself. That doesn't mean I won't accept another person's take on my monster, if you want to draw him, go ahead, but I also want to work on him.
One major change is that I might not be posting so much of my concept artwork online as I used to. Mainly, I think doing that put more of strain on me, as I was trying to ask other people what they think and taking any criticism to heart. So, I have to change my mentality a bit and try to make Monsturra (or any of my other kaiju) in secret, then show you the finalized drawing. Plus, it might help if I just ignore people who tell me that Monsturra looks like this or that, as that is true with anything more, especially giant monsters. We all draw inspiration from what came before, so nothing is 100% original. Hell, I could make Monsturra a mammalian kaiju, and I'm sure some people would say something about that. So, I'm not going to let that shit bother me anymore, because letting it bother me is leaving me with more heartbreak, when I should be having fun. I mean, you can take and use the criticism, that's fine, but at the same time, I shouldn't let it control me.
If I do post concept artwork, I will definitely post it in my Scraps, like I did with my recent pencil drawing of that unnamed kaiju.
I got some ideas going for Monsturra's design cooking up in the old noggin, which I'm going to work on soon, and I'm going aim to give him a solid base design. Really, I need to stop worrying about the fine details, and have fun with it. It's like, I've been doing this for 11 years now, I think I need to change up how I do things. Also, please note that if I do axe a feature or so, it just something I want to do, and fits the character a bit more. Same if I want to axe or combine my other kaiju, it's something I want to do. Keep in mind that all my artwork from this point forward is non-canon until I decide to make it canon. It's all just conceptual artwork.
Anyway, that's pretty much it.
Talk to you all later,
Jake

Is this the End?
Hey all, I have been thinking about this for a while, but I am thinking about just ending my time here on DeviantArt. Lately, I haven't been feeling like posting artwork on here, especially since I do have a Instagram and Facebook accounts to do such a thing. That, and I have let my Deviants post and posted artwork go on for a while. Does that mean I will shut down this account? No, and maybe I will still post my artwork on here, but I have decided that, it's for the best, to give this site a long rest. Almost all my friends have left, no longer contact me, or even post stuff on here, and I figure why bother staying put. Oh well, that's all I really have to say. Until next time, Jake
This sucks
Well, I found out that using my XP-Pen Artist 12 might not work on my computer. It does work, but it messes with the monitor's screen (leaving a bunch of noise on it), and I was using a very cheap looking HDMI adapter (not sure of the brand and it came in a plain plastic bad). So, I don't know if it's the computer not being able to handle the dual screens, the fact that it's a shitty splitter, or a combination of the two. This is starting to feel like a major waste of money.
The Digital Question-Update
Update: I decided to get a XP-Pen Artist 12, as it is afforable and looks like it works fine. I don't need a super expensive pen display, just a good one. Hey all, I'm doing alright, though I'm not fully spectacular feeling. I'll be alright, so no worries. Anyway, my friends, I want to ask you all a question. I've been thinking of getting a drawing tablet so I can do my artwork digitally, and I was wonder what you would recommend? I'm looking for something with a screen (so I don't have to constantly look at the screen, then draw, which totally breaks up my flow), easy to use, that's wireless or have the ability to be used on a desktop, and is pretty cheap (up to $400 USD). While I do like drawing traditionally, I'm still wondering about getting a tablet to draw digitally. So, what would you recommend? Later, Jake
Name Change Revival
Well, screw it! I have decided to change my main kaiju name back to Monsturra, and that's just his name. I will keep Titanagon/Titaragon for a different creature.
I just was feeling nostalgic for the old name, and it does has a classic kaiju feel to it.
